Nigeria Disability Tech Summit 1.0 Opens Call for Volunteers to Help Build Nigeria’s Disability Technology Future
Something significant is beginning to take shape in Nigeria Disability Technology Ecosystem – Nigeria Disability Tech Summit 1.0
The Nigeria Disability Tech Summit (NDTS) 1.0 is bringing together technology, disability, innovation, accessibility and inclusion around one shared vision: Building the Future of Disability Technology in Nigeria.
And now, the people who will help bring that vision to life are being invited to step forward.
NDTS 1.0 has opened its call for volunteers.
This is not simply a call for people to help organise an event.
It is an invitation to people who believe that technology should work for everyone.
Why NDTS Matters
Technology is changing almost every part of our lives.
Artificial intelligence is transforming how we work. Software is changing how businesses operate. Hardware and embedded systems are creating new possibilities. Digital platforms are reshaping education, healthcare, employment and communication.
But there is an important question that cannot be ignored:
Who is technology being built for?
For millions of people with disabilities, barriers still exist in accessing education, employment, communication, mobility, healthcare, information and everyday digital services.
Some of those barriers are physical.
Some are technological.
Some are economic.
Some are created simply because people with disabilities were not included early enough in the process of designing the solutions meant to serve them.
Nigeria needs more conversations about this.
More importantly, Nigeria needs more people building solutions.
That is where the Nigeria Disability Tech Summit comes in.
Building More Than a Summit
NDTS 1.0 is designed to create a space where people working across disability and technology can meet, exchange ideas, demonstrate solutions, ask difficult questions and explore what is possible.
The summit is not limited to one type of technology.
Disability technology can include software, hardware, assistive devices, artificial intelligence, robotics, embedded systems, communication tools, accessibility solutions, mobility technologies, inclusive digital products and many other innovations.
It can come from a startup.
A university.
A researcher.
A developer.
A person with lived experience of disability.
A therapist.
An educator.
An engineer.
A designer.
A community organisation.
Or simply someone who sees a problem and believes there should be a better way to solve it.
The goal is to help create a stronger ecosystem around disability technology in Nigeria.
Now, We Need People Who Want to Build With Us in this first Edition of Nigeria Disability Tech Summit
A summit of this ambition cannot be built by one person or one organisation.
It requires people.
People who can organise.
People who can communicate.
People who can create.
People who can connect communities.
People who understand accessibility.
People who can build technology.
People who can tell stories.
People who can manage logistics.
People who can bring partnerships together.
People who simply have the willingness to learn and contribute.
That is why NDTS 1.0 is opening its volunteer community.
Who Can Volunteer for the Nigeria Disability Tech Summit?
You do not need to be a disability technology expert to contribute.
The volunteer team is open to people with different skills, experiences and interests.
Areas of contribution include:
- Operations

And if your skill does not fit neatly into any of these categories, there is still room to tell the team what you can bring.
You Don’t Have to Have Everything Figured Out
One of the most important things about building an ecosystem is giving people an opportunity to participate.
You may be experienced.
You may be early in your career.
You may be a student.
You may have worked on conferences before.
You may have never worked on a summit.
You may have a professional skill you want to contribute.
Or you may simply have the energy, curiosity and commitment to learn.
What matters is your willingness to contribute meaningfully.
A Chance to Be Part of Something at the Beginning
There is something different about joining a project before everyone knows its story.
Before the photographs.
Before the stage.
Before the speakers walk out.
Before the conversations begin.
Before the first edition becomes history.
The people who join now will have the opportunity to contribute to the foundation of NDTS 1.0.
They will help shape how the summit is experienced, how accessibility is considered, how people connect and how the conversation around disability technology develops.
This is the beginning.
And beginnings need people who are willing to build.
Lagos Will Host NDTS 1.0
The Nigeria Disability Tech Summit 1.0 will take place in Lagos, Nigeria.
Further event details will be announced as preparations progress.
The summit’s theme is:
Building the Future of Disability Technology in Nigeria.
The vision is bigger than one event.
It is about creating stronger connections between people who have often been working separately.
Technology builders need to hear from people with disabilities.
Policymakers need to hear from innovators.
Researchers need to connect with communities.
Businesses need to understand accessibility.
And people with disabilities need to be recognised not only as beneficiaries of technology, but as participants, creators, innovators and leaders in the technology ecosystem.
How to Join the NDTS Volunteer Team
If you are passionate about disability, technology, accessibility, innovation, community building or inclusive development, this may be your opportunity to contribute.
NDTS is currently accepting expressions of interest from people who want to volunteer and contribute to the summit.
Submit your Expression of Interest here:

Please note that submitting an expression of interest does not automatically guarantee selection. The NDTS team will review submissions based on the needs of the summit and the areas where volunteers can contribute effectively.
This Is Bigger Than Volunteering
There are moments when you can watch something happen.
And there are moments when you can help build it.
NDTS 1.0 is still being built.
The programme will evolve.
The community will grow.
The conversations will develop.
The partnerships will come together.
And the people who step forward now can become part of the story from the beginning.
If you believe Nigeria can build a future where technology is designed with accessibility and inclusion in mind, there is a place for you in this conversation.
The future of disability technology in Nigeria will not build itself.
Let’s build it together.
