About Us

Who We Are

AblePath Africa is a digital media platform dedicated to disability news, opportunities, and advocacy across all 54 African nations.

We exist for one reason: because information changes lives and too many Africans living with disabilities are missing information that could change theirs.

Every day across Africa, life-changing grants go unclaimed because disability organizations never heard about them. Children with disabilities stay out of school because their families do not know about inclusive education programmes in their community. Persons with disabilities miss jobs, lose legal battles, and go without rehabilitation services, not because the resources do not exist, but because the information never reached them.

AblePath Africa was built to close that gap.

What We Do

We are a dedicated editorial platform covering everything that matters to the disability community across Africa. Our coverage spans seven key areas:

Grants & Funding We track and publish open grant opportunities, funding calls, and financial resources available to organisations of persons with disabilities across Africa, so that no eligible OPD misses an opportunity because the information arrived too late.

Jobs & Opportunities We publish job openings, consultancies, internships, and professional opportunities in the disability rights, inclusion, and development sectors connecting talent with organizations that need it.

Advocacy & Policy We cover the African Disability Protocol, CRPD implementation, national legislation, and policy developments across all 54 nations translating complex legal and political developments into clear, actionable information for advocates, OPD leaders, and communities.

Inclusive Education We report on policies, programmes, research, and resources related to education for children and young people with disabilities because every child in Africa deserves to learn.

Health & Rehabilitation We cover health equity, rehabilitation services, community-based rehabilitation programmes, and health system developments that affect persons with disabilities so that healthcare is not just theoretically available, but actually reachable.

Assistive Technology We track the innovations, policies, and opportunities shaping access to assistive technology across Africa from local hackathons to national legislation to global funding programmes.

Community Spotlight We tell the stories of the people and organisations driving disability inclusion across Africa because the movement is built by communities, and those communities deserve to be seen.

Why AblePath Africa Exists

Africa is home to more than 1.4 billion people. An estimated 80 million to 100 million of them live with a disability. That is one of the largest disability populations in the world and one of the least served by dedicated information resources.

The global disability rights landscape is changing rapidly. The African Disability Protocol entered into force in 2024. Governments across the continent are passing new inclusion legislation. International funders are expanding grantmaking to African OPDs. Innovators are building assistive technologies designed specifically for African realities.

But too much of this progress stays siloed. Information circulates among specialists and never reaches the grassroots organisations, families, and individuals who need it most.

We believe that is unacceptable.

AblePath Africa was built on a simple conviction: the information gap is part of the inequality gap. Closing one helps close the other.

Our Commitment

We are free. Every article, every grant listing, every job post, every policy update on AblePath Africa is free to access. No paywalls. No subscriptions. No barriers.

We cover all 54 nations. Disability inclusion is not just a challenge for Africa’s largest or wealthiest countries. We are committed to covering the disability rights landscape across every African nation.

We are community-centred. We centre the voices, experiences, and expertise of persons with disabilities in everything we publish. We follow the principle that has guided the disability rights movement for decades, nothing about us without us.

We are accurate. Every piece of information we publish is researched and verified. We correct errors promptly and transparently. Our readers trust us because we take that responsibility seriously.

We are independent. AblePath Africa is editorially independent. Our coverage is not shaped by funders, advertisers, or political interests. We report what matters to the disability community not what is convenient for anyone else.
